Welcome to Thrive Psychotherapy! My name is Tara Khadem and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Gottman Therapist, Certified Group Psychotherapist and Gottman 7 Principles Leader. I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology in 1997, and my Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Boston College in 2001. I have received additional training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) as well as Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) in order to help individuals and couples heal and grow towards their highest potential.
Life difficulties, adversities and challenges are an unavoidable part of the human experience. Our lives present us with both joy and pain, success and setbacks. When our painful experiences are used in a purposeful and resilient manner, there is tremendous opportunity for growth, transformation and joy. Unfortunately, our culture misleads us when it comes to understanding the experience of suffering. We are encouraged to run from pain, and numb uncomfortable feelings. Ironically, it is this running away from pain that keeps us stuck in the negative patterns of our lives. Often, when we feel overwhelmed by life challenges, the accompanying feelings of depression, anxiety, apathy, and frustration show up as guideposts for much needed change and growth. I help my clients accept challenges, to look at pain squarely in the eye, and to use it as a source of insight, strength and transformation. I believe psychotherapy and coaching are incredible tools to help my clients become "unstuck", uncover their inner strengths and anchor in their true purpose. I am committed to creating a safe, non judgemental and accepting space for my clients to reflect, heal, and ultimately learn the therapeutic tools that will help them conquer life's challenges and to truly thrive.
